Tuesday is Awesome
Because Tuesday is recycling day at my work. Something about the guys (and actually a woman today) rolling the giant tubs around the office...just makes me happy. Roll on recycling people, roll on.

Taking Transit To Work
I'm pretty happy about it.
I moved about 6 weeks ago to the other side of town (another suburb) and while I did a test commute one morning to see how LONG the commute was (about 15-20 minutes) it didn't occur to me that even though I was driving less TIME i was driving nearly twice the DISTANCE because it's all freeway time now. Muh. Left me feeling pretty dumb and guilty.
To try and resolve some of this I decided that I was going to try and use our lightrail system (I'm in Sacramento, CA). When I had tried this before it took me like 2 hours each way to get to work instead of a 25 minute drive. I decided yesterday that I was going to make today the first transit day....and woke up this AM to rain. I thought about chickening out and driving anyways but i put some boots on and pulled out an umbrella. Took about an hour including the wait at the train station near my house and the walk from the train station near my work to my work. I think I'm going to try and do this more. Right now I'm setting it as a goal to take the train Mondays and Tuesdays and only drive in Wednesdays and Thursdays (furloughs on Fridays).
Here's the breakdown.
Transit Days:
2.6 miles to the train station (drive) x 2 (each way) = 5.2 miles driving.
Driving Days:
16.5 miles from to work (drive) x 2 (each way) = 33 miles driving.
Riding transit to work means 55.6 miles of driving saved per week. When I keep this up for a year I'll have saved 2891.2 miles. Holy crap. That's 96.4 gallons of gas.

Random awesome bit about Firefox
I'm a firefox convert of about a year now, maybe a little more...and I just found a shortcut that I'm going to use forever now.
ctrl+1 or ctrl+2 (etc) gets you to that number tab! It's amazing. I have been scrolling back and forth for ten minutes now!

Lost forever? Oh no...do not despair.
So....pretty much two years ago I met with my most awesome degree evaluator, if you go to my university ask me for her name and I will most gladly recommend her. She told me that I needed a transcript for summer school that I took out of state one summer.
A bit of a story about that, I thought I needed it...but then I changed from a BS to a BA so I no longer needed it. I didn't know I still needed to turn transcripts in, since I didn't need it for my major any more. Anywhoo....the school that it was from is archaic and I had to mail a check and fax in an order form for the transcripts. I told my degree evaluator I would come back in when they came in. Well....I didn't.
I'm a flake, I dropped the ball. I finally called her and played phone tag for a bit and spoke with her - among other things I said "I'm really sorry that I completely dropped the ball," her response was "don't worry, we'll take care of it." I think she should get an award for being awesome. I meet with her tomorrow.
Okay...I know this sounds dumb but I literally looked at this envelope with my transcripts from out of state once a week for the last two years. Apparently 7 weeks ago when I took down my bulletin board to make room for more posters, the envelope did not stay affixed.
When I went to look for it I figured I must have anticipated bringing it into my degree evaluator and put it in a bag.....well, I couldn't find it. I just spent the last 2 hours searching for it. In a last ditch effort I looked behind a box that was under the bulletin board's original location...there it was.
I'm so glad I found it. So...12 hours from now I meet with my degree evaluator. Hope for the best.

Dishes
There is no chore I hate more than dishes.
I really wish there were some sort of chore-trading program. Seriously folks. I'm sure there are people out there who like doing dishes but don't like laundry. Not only do I not mind doing laundry but I border on liking doing laundry.
I know...I'm weird. I like doing laundry. There is something very therapeutic about laundry. All dirty and wrinkled, a little effort and the garment is now fresh and crisp. Fluffy and nice.
Come on. You want to do my dishes right?
Figured if I blogged first they would do themselves.

Coffee
I love coffee so much. Tonight, someone offered me a coffee flavored hard candy...I realized it totally defeats the purpose of a mint. Instead of making your breath refreshed and masking coffee scent it intensifies the coffee presence.
Don't get me wrong, it was good...I just felt dumb after I ate it.

Oatmeal
Sometimes I feel like oatmeal is the penance of unhealthy eating. Last night I had greasy fries and a veggie burger smothered in cheese...and I woke up feeling guilty.
A bowl of oatmeal with raisins makes me feel like it might all be okay.
